Test yours alerts

Before activating your connection, it's essential to verify that everything is working correctly. This page guides you through testing your setup.

Prerequisites

Before testing, make sure you have completed the following steps:

circle-info

Reminder: Keep your connection Inactive during testing. Events will still be logged, but no phone calls will be triggered and no technical emails will be sent.

Trigger a Test Event

circle-info

Recommendation: Don't just send one test event. For a complete validation, test all types of actions:

  • Delayed / Instant call β€” Trigger an intrusion or fire alarm (e.g., BA, FA)

  • Cancel β€” Arm then disarm your system to verify the cancel codes (e.g., OP, OR)

  • Technical email β€” If possible, trigger a technical event (e.g., tamper, battery trouble)

This validates that all codes in your delay rule are properly received and identified.

From an Alarm Panel

Most alarm panels have a built-in test function:

1

Access panel settings

Open your alarm panel's settings.

2

Find the test option

Look for "Test Report", "Manual Test", or "Send Test to ARC".

3

Trigger the test

Trigger the test; the panel will send a test code (usually RP β€” Automatic Test) to CallOnAlarm.

From the API

If you're using the Public API, send a test alert:

Note: When the limit is reached, older events are automatically removed to make room for new ones. Consider upgrading if you need more historical data.

What to Check

βœ… Event Received

Verify that your test event appears in the logs. If it does, your device is correctly communicating with CallOnAlarm.

βœ… Event Code Recognition

Check that the event code is correctly identified (e.g., "BA - Burglary Alarm" rather than an unknown code).
